We are currently recruiting for a full time night porter to work for our hotel. The role requires working from late evening until early morning and will be responsible for the safe and secure running of the hotel during the night.

As a night porter you will be responsible for ensuring all guests enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep and look after guests welfare at night.

  • Assist with reception during designated ‘night shifts’ including late check-ins and early check-outs
  • Ensure telephone calls are handled promptly and courteously
  • Ensure effective security of residents and the building at all times and report any issues, incidents and complaints
  • Keep all public areas tidy and clean
  • Complete the Night Porter checklist
  • Be fully aware of the Hotel’s Fire Safety procedures and Health & Safety regulations
  • Be responsible for setting up, up-keeping and breakdown of functions and conferences. Clean function/conference rooms as required
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the nights manager.

We have a fabulous opportunity for a Sous/Head Chef to join our company at Penyard House, an 80 bedroom hotel, conference and wedding venue. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Executive Chef in the management and leadership of our kitchen. Responsibilities include but are not limited to;

– Overseeing food service periods at breakfast, lunch and/or dinner.

– Writing daily menus and developing seasonal menus.

– Supporting the training and development of junior chefs.

– Ensuring the highest levels of food safety and hygiene are maintained.

– Ensuring all current and relevant legislation is complied with.

– Completing food purchases and managing stock levels.

You will also be responsible for the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef.

The successful applicant will be exceptionally well-organized, with a keen eye for detail, will have a confident and sociable personality and will develop strong rapport with clients and colleagues.The ideal candidate will have had experience as a Sous Chef and will have significant experience in both restaurant and banquet kitchens.

We are looking for casual restaurant staff. Experience is preferred but full training can be given.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm welcome to all guests on their arrival.
  • Assist guests and members in a friendly, courteous and professional manner ensuring that any special requirements are noted and passed to the appropriate department.
  • Assist guests in a friendly, courteous and professional manner throughout their stay, demonstrating full knowledge of the hotel’s facilities and general information.
  • Deal with all enquiries promptly and in a professional manner, demonstrating detailed product knowledge, taking every opportunity to translate into retail sales
  • Check the Food and Beverage areas on a regular basis to ensure compliance with Company and hotel standards in respect of cleanliness, health and safety.
  • Ensure all complaints are dealt with appropriately and pass full and accurate details of any complaints to the Duty Manager.
  • Ensure guest security, safety and privacy is established and maintained.
  • Report any defects in equipment, damage or general wear and tear to the F&B Team Leaders.
  • Deal with all complaints/problems politely and positively and make every effort to resolve them. If you cannot resolve them, refer to your Line Manager but, in any case, advise full details to your Line Manager at the first opportunity.
  • Monitor all guest room charges via the till ensuring that charges posted are correctly and that supporting documentation is readily available.
  • Be aware of and operate the hotel cash handling, security and emergency procedures and report any discrepancies to the F&B Team Leader immediately.
  • Assist with special promotions and provide visual displays, as required, taking every opportunity to upsell.
  • Support all members of the team to achieve and maintain standards to the highest possible level in respect of service, hygiene and Health & Safety.
